GLENDALE AND VIRGINIA VILLAGE

The City of Glendale is located in Southeast Denver. It sits East of Colorado Boulevard and South of Leetsdale Drive. Glendale was incorporated in 1952 and consists mainly of retail, office, and apartment buildings. In 2007, the U.S. Rugby Stadium, Infinity Park, was built in the center of the city. A year later, they park opened up a recreation and sports center. Infinity Park is the home stadium of the nationally ranked, Glendale Raptors and boasts a large event center, as well as a high altitude training center. People can walk, run, or bike the Cherry Creek Trail that runs through Glendale and stretches all the way from Downtown Parker to the Highlands Neighborhood. Glendale is home to Four Mile Historic Park and Museum. What was once a 600+ acre farm is now a preserved 12 acre frontier park. The home that sits on the park was built in 1859 as a "Mile" house and was the last stop before entering Denver. It is the oldest standing residential structure in the metro area. Glendale 180 is a planned entertainment district that will include restuarants, bars, shopping, and office buildings. Construction is set to begin in late 2015.

Just south of Glendale is the neighborhood of Virginia Village. North of Evans Ave and stretching from Colorado Boulevard to Quebec Street, Virginia Village constists mostly of single family detached homes built between the 1950s and 1980s. Most of the homes are ranch style homes with quite a few mid-century modern homes built throughout. The highest concentration of mid-century modern homes is about a 5 block stretch known as Krisana Park. Virginia Village is home to several parks, including Cook Park, Ash Grove Park, and City of Potenza Park. There are several schools located in Virginia Village including Ellis Elementary School (a public school), the Montessori School of Denver (K-8), and the Rocky Mountain School of Expeditionary Learning (K-12).
